Coloured Raine has been a staple in my vanity, including liquid lipstick, blush, and eyeshadows over the past few years. It’s one of my favourite makeup brands, and did I mention, it’s Black-owned!? Loraine Dowdy founded the brand in 2013 after leaving a career in the finance industry.
The Coloured Raine X Power collection launched in 2019, featuring an eyeshadow palette, blush and highlighter duos, lip products, and glitter toppers. The collection is still available, and it’s occasionally offered on sale.
The eyeshadow palette features 9 shadows in 3 finishes: foil, matte, and duochrome.
Truth: Foil Violet Purple
Legacy: Duo-chrome Topper White with pink and purple shift
Respect: Duo-chrome mauve that shifts periwinkle blue
Snitch: Matte Merlot
Revenge: Duo-chrome pink with gold shifts
Deception: Matte mauve
Alibi: Foil Eggplant with silver pearl
Betrayal: Matte Strawberry
Testify: Matte Eggplant
As mentioned in the previous post, my eyes react to shadows with Carmine/C.I. 75470. It’s listed in the “may contain” section for one of the shadows, Respect. I haven’t tried that shade yet, but will update if I have a reaction.
All swatches shown were on top of Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion and swatched with a Sonia G Worker One Brush. All of the shadows are extremely pigmented and easy to blend. The foil shadows are highly reflective. The duo-chromes are distinctive, and you can see each of the tones marked in the description. The metallic shades have more impact when applied with a finger, but they are still easy to use with a brush. I’ve not had any issues with the colors fading or getting muddy.
