A Long Overdue Hair Update

I was about to write a review for Olaplex and remembered it's been ages since I've actually posted about my hair here! In December, I got  my hair professionally coloured and have had a few highlight sessions since then. The last of which left me with a few slightly looser strands in the front, where my hair has the loosest curl pattern, and right above my ear, where my hair is the finest. The different curl patterns aren't very noticeable, nothing like when I had blond highlights and bone straight sections of chemical damage.

Overall, I love my colour and am happy with the results. View my hair colour journey here in my Instagram highlights, and while you're at it, click follow. I update the Instagram page, more than the blog and Facebook.

Prior to my first few colour sessions, I prepped my hair with Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector (available here). This has made such a difference in the overall health of my hair, and preventing extensive damage and breakage from chemic…

Empties: Update #20 - Facial Oils

This post has been sitting in my drafts for months. Every now and then ups and downs of life sap my interest in and energy for blogging. It's a hobby, foremost and an avenue to share some of my interests, namely my natural hair journey. Along the way, I delved into skincare, trying to find what works for me. Here are some empties for facial oils I finished last year. I am currently using Edible Beauty's Snowflower Illuminating Facial Oil and Youth to the People Superberry Hydrate & Glow Facial Oil. More to come on the blog in the following weeks!

Herbivore Botanicals Phoenix Cell Regenerating Facial Oil: This is a lightweight facial oil, good in the morning and evenings. It wears well under makeup. Of the oils I've purchased, this one lasted the longest and is technically the most inexpensive considering the size of the it. The Herbivore Botanical oils are 50ml compared to your normal 30ml. The smell of this oil is more pleasant than most, without any artificial fragra…

Empties: Update #20 - Moisturisers

Caudalie Grape Water: This is a nice refreshing spritz. I use it before applying oils or balms. I also use it on top of makeup. It's one of the few products I use everyday. (available: Caudalie)

January Labs Retexturizing Night Cream: I didn't like this and actually struggled to finish it. I ended up using it on my hands and arms. Because of the thick consistency, I found it hard to add to my routine. Products like Sunday Riley Good Genes and Farmacy Honeymoon Glow are lighter and I find them easier to use and fast absorbing. January Labs might work for you, if you are using this cream as your final step. (available: Cult Beauty)

January Labs Moisture Balancing Lotion: This is a nice lightweight moisturiser, but again I used it more as hand cream. It was nothing spectacular, and I rarely reached for it. Of all the January Labs products, the only one I'd repurchase is the mask - Power Peel Exfoliant. (available: Cult Beauty)

Tata Harper Restorative Eye Cream: It's a beauti…

Empties: Update #19 - Acids, Toners and Serums

Biologique Recerche P50: Best acid toner I've ever used, and probably the strongest. I had to dilute it when I first started using it, and now I use it on its own. Overall, it noticeably improves texture and helps to speed up recovery time.

Differin: This has helped to clear my skin and minimize breakouts. I haven't used any other retinol products since getting this. I have the big tube and a little goes a long way.

Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel: I use this as a treatment once a week or once every other week. On those days, I skip the P50 and retinol steps. It's a staple in my routine; you notice the improvement immediately! (available here)

Drunk Elephant C Firma: This has become a staple for me. I haven't even wanted to try other vitamin C products because this works so well. A bottle lasts about 6 months. This should be available in the UK in late 2018. Finally! (available here)

Whamisa Deep Rich: Although, I've run out of this, it's definitely a repurch…

Empties: Update #18 - Skincare (Cleansers)

I have several skincare products to post in the empties, acids, oils and moisturisers are upcoming in separate posts. I thought I'd start off with my first step in the routine: cleansers.

Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser (available here): The Indie Lee cleansers are just ok for me, and at times, they're even a bit stripping. They smell nice, but that's about all.

Indie Lee Rosehip Cleanser (available here): See comments above.

Murad Essential-C Cleanser (available here): I got this in one of the reward sample sets from Sephora. It's actually really nice, cleanses without stripping, and has a light citrus scent. I reached for this more than the Indie Lee cleansers.

Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip (available here): This is a nice cleanser for when I'm breaking out. It works well with the Clarisonic, which in my experience is rare with more natural cleansers. I hate using Tata Harper Purifying Cleanser with the Clarisonic, but some people love it. Ceramic Slip rinses clean and d…

Empties: Update #17 - Makeup

If I manage to finish a makeup product, it's usually something I repurchase.

Becca Ever Matte Poreless Priming Perfector (available here): I get extremely oil during the day, and this helps limit the oil and keep my makeup on longer.

Chanel Rouge Coco Gloss Top Coat - Excitation (available here): Love this gloss, can't wait to get a new one!

Cover FX Perfect Setting Powder - Light (available here): I think I've gone through 3 of these now. It's my favourite setting powder. It's talc-free and there's no flash back if you blend it out well.

Dior Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Plumping Gloss (available here): A lovely sheer gloss for everyday wear. I've gone through 3 of them.

Dior Diorskin Forever Undercover Concealer - 050 (available here): This is my favourite concealer. Some concealers tingle when I apply them under my eyes, and I don't get that with this one. It's full coverage and waterproof. I never have issues with it. I do wish more colours were availa…

Empties: Update #16 - Hair and Body Products (Mini Reviews Included)

I've taken a break from posting and social media to just deal with life and all of its wonderful ups and downs. However, blogging has always been a bit of a release, so I'm trying to get back into it. It also helped to finally get rid of the empties I've been hoarding for a few months now!

I don't have many empties on the hair front because I've been wearing braids for months. I finally switched back to my natural hair about a month ago. Time to give my edges a break, I thought, but then Beyonce came through with Beychella and snatched them out!

Camille Rose Algae Renew Deep Conditioner: Check out my full review here. This has been an HG product for years and still going strong!

Curl Junkie Repair Me! Reconstructive Hair Treatment: I love this! Too bad it's not carried in the UK anymore. I might pick up some during Black Friday sales.

Mielle Organics Flexible Hold Edge Gel: This was my favourite edge control until I got my current one. Mielle is more accessible t…
