Finishing up my reviews for the cleansing conditioners I currently have with Afroveda Monoi de Tiare Cleansing Cream.
Product Claims: Our Monoi de Tiare Cleansing Cream is a gentle moisturizing cleanser that doesn’t create tons of latter, but will clean your hair and leave it soft! It is the ideal moisturizer as it is 100% natural and it will hydrate and moisturize each strand of hair, to leave it soft, flexible and shiny.
Soothes your scalp as it cleanses.
Ingredients: Aloe barbadensis Leaf Juice, Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail) Leaf Extract, Urtica Urens (Nettle) Leaf Extract, Matricaria Recutita (Chamomile) Flower Extract, Persea American (Avocado) Fruit Oil, Baobab Extract, Coconut Oil & Gardenia Tahitensis, Behentrimonium Methosulfate & Cetearyl Alcohol, Panthenol(ProVitamin B5), Olive Oil, Orbignya Oleifera (Babassu) Kernal Oil, Hydrolyzed Quinoa Protein, Vegetable Glycerin, Gluconolactone, Lactic Acid, Brassica Oleraceae Var.Italica (Broccoli) Seed Oil, Sodium Benzoate.
Thoughts: Off bat, I had issues with this product: it spilled while being being shipped. The pump doesn’t even touch the bottom of the bottle; it stops a good two inches above that. I see they’ve now switched to a jar, but the product is so runny, that that is just asking to mishap to occur. Not to mention it is $21 for an 8oz (I purchased it at 40% off)!
Now my major problem, if you look closely at the product claims and ingredients…something isn’t quite right. Where’s the neem extract? The shikakai? I don’t see them. Do you? I contacted the owner and customer service about the discrepancy, neither replied. I don’t know what’s in this product.
The product I have is ok; not good, but not bad either. I wouldn’t call it a cleanser though. Based on the ingredients, the actual cleansing agents aren’t in it. It also doesn’t leave my hair feeling clean, more of a light conditioner, an extremely light one.
The consistency is that of a thin lotion. It does have some slip and is moisturizing. The fragrance isn’t one I prefer: a cloying floral, but not too obnoxious that I am unwilling to use the cleansing cream.
Afroveda Monoi de Tiare Cleansing Cream retails for $21 (8oz) and is available on the Afroveda site.
Would I repurchase?: No. There are other Afroveda products that I love, but this is not one of them.
Below is how I’d rate the product in the following categories:
