Curlformers Fail

I blew out my hair and then applied Coily Head Chick's Hair Perfection mixed with a little Lotta Body Carrot & Keratin.

After hours of attempting and failing to sleep, I said forget this, and took them out! The first picture is right after removing them. The second is after less than 2 hours. Poof. Curls became massive fluff.

On top of that, the rhassoul treatment I did prior to styling didn't rinse fully! So barely any sleep, failed hair-do, and chocolate-like grit...FAIL!

My first attempt was much better, but I'm over this. Maybe I'll try them on twists, but cocoon curls and Bantu knots are much more comfortable. I'll eventually get ambitious again and attempt these one day, but definitely no time in the near future.

November 2012 Favorites

New favorites for the month of November:
Bobeam Shampoo Bars: cleansing without being stripping Manic Panic Vegan Dye in Hot Hot Pink: it works for me and I don't have to lighten my hair to see the color. (View before and after photos on and how I did it here.) BASK Palm Tapioca Deluxe Cream: after adding a little bit of Just Scent Pumpkin Cookie Crunch fragrance, I started using this more frequently. Nice moisturizer and sealant. I didn't do much with styling other than blow-outs and braid outs. Twists just don't work for me, and I don't care to experiment with them right now.

How I Dye My Hair (Manic Panic)

Recently, I colored my unbleached natural hair using Manic Panic. Check the Kinks of Nature Instagram page for before and after photos as well as the progression of my color fading.

The easiest way for me to outline this...bullet points: Pre-treatment with Vatika oil. Shampooed with Ouidad Climate Control Defrizzing Shampoo. Air dried for a few hours then blow dried hair completely. Applied Manic Panic Hot Hot Pink. Covered hair with shower cap and towel; let it sit for 4 hours. (Manic Panic is a vegan dye and does not contain protein, alcohol, peroxide etc. NO, I did not damage my hair by leaving it on for that long. It actually felt like I had just used a moisturizing conditioner.) Rinsed with cold water. Shampooed with Ion color Solutions Color Defense Clarifying Shampoo. Leave-in Qhemet Biologics Cocoa Tree Detangling Ghee. Sealed with Oyin Handmade Burnt Sugar Pomade. and finally a BLOW OUT followed by braids for a nice big fluffy braid out.
