Review: Garnier Fructis Style Pure Clean Styling Gel
Garnier Fructis is a readily available line. Not too long ago, they released the Pure Clean line of products. I picked up the gel on a whim, and I'm very glad I did. Garnier Fructis Style Pure Clean Styling Gel (Extra Strong) is marketed as a "98% naturally-derived styling gel for extra strong hold, all day, with zero flaking and zero residue". It contains no silicones, parabens, or dyes.
Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Sorbitol, Glycerin, Dehydroxanthan Gum, Benzyl Alcohol, Lithium Magnesium Sodium Silicate, Fragrance, Limonene, Citronellol, Linalool, Acacia Senegal (Acacia Senegal Gum).
Thoughts: Does it live up to its claims? Yes! When I use this I get multi-day hair. No crunch. No dryness (in case you're wondering about the alcohol). My hair feels extremely soft whenever I use it. I've never seen any flaking or felt any residue in my hair. The only time I feel residue is when I'm transferring the gel from the container to my hair. It leaves my hands with sticky coating that is only removed with soap and water. I don't feel this in my hair once it is completely dry so it doesn't bother me. Even with the high content of humectants, it works well for me in high dews. This gel is quickly becoming one of my favorites.
It's one of those "slimy" gels. The consistency is similar to that of a Kinky Curly Curling Custard or Uncle Funky's Daughter Curly Magic.
The fragrance, I can't pinpoint it, but it smells like the rest of the Garnier Pure Clean line. The scent reminds me of Snuggle the fabric softener. It takes me back to when I used to have one of those Snuggle bears. Oooh, they smelled so good! So yeah, this smells great! *As I continuously open and close my empty container to delight in the scent.* Don't judge me!
My only issue is the quantity, but since it's relatively inexpensive, I don't mind that much. It's 6.8 fluid ounces (200ml). One tube of this, I can use maybe 6 times, probably more if I weren't so heavy handed though.
Garnier Fructis Style Pure Clean Styling Gel (Extra Strong) is available at drugstores and from online retailers. I've seen prices ranging from $4-$7.
