Review: As I Am Curling Jelly and Smoothing Gel
|As I Am Curling Jelly and Smoothing Gel|
I don't usually combine reviews but thought it would be fitting for As I Am's Curling Jelly and Smoothing Gel. The Curling Jelly is too light for me to use on wash and go's, but the Smoothing Gel is great and also works for smoothing my edges and creating sleek buns.

Thoughts: The Curling Jelly doesn't provide enough hold for my hair. On one application, I used half the jar to get the definition I prefer, but there still wasn't enough hold to give me multi-day hair. It has a nice coconut fragrance, good slip, and a nice consistency. It doesn't flake, but my hair does look dull. This product would probably work better for someone who requires less hold and isn't seeking multi-day hair. I wouldn't repurchase the Curling Jelly.
The Smoothing Gel, on the other hand, does provide enough hold. While it doesn't have the slip of the Curling Jelly, it's thick enough to smooth and hold my curl pattern. First day hair is extremely defined. I prefer second day hair; it's defined with a small amount of frizz, enough to add to the volume, and I've had time to stretch my hair and add to the length. The Smoothing Gel has the same coconut fragrance. I don't get flaking as long as I smooth the product in and am mindful of removing any excess. My hair does look dull with this one, but I spray an oil on top to counteract that.
My hair is soft and movable with both products. Even when I use the Smoothing Gel for buns, I am still able to take my hair loose and easily change styles. Neither product leaves my hair hard or crunchy. It's not as smooth of a look as I get with Eco Styler or Wetline, but it's smooth enough with minimal flyaways. I love that I can get a sleek look without having to worry about the gel being too firm or my edges breaking off if I try to move my hair without wetting it first. I can get 3 or 4 days out of a wash and go.
