Review: ApHogee Curlific! Texture Treatment
|ApHogee Curlific! Texture Treatment|
A few months ago, I posted my first impressions of ApHogee Curlific! Texture Treatment (view here). I've had some time to use the product; in fact, it's nearly finished.
Product Claims: Curlific! products are pH optimized for maximum results and contain our exclusive PropHytamine Complex, utilizing proteins for strength, emollients for shine and humectants for softness. Curlific! is serious care for textured hair. Wavy, curly, or coiled hair types are more susceptible to damage than straight hair, due to structure and styling resistance. Weekly use of Curlific! Texture Treatment maintains beautiful hair, regardless of the environment or styling regimen. A must for color treated curls!!
Ingredients: Water (Aqua, Eau), Stearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Behenamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Glycerin, Panthenol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Hydrolyzed Quinoa, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein PG-Propyl Silanetriol, Mauritia Flexuosa Fruit Oil, Sodium PCA, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Seed Oil, Dimethicone, Amodimethicone, Lactic Acid, Polyester-11, PVP, Isostearamidopropyl Morpholine Lactate, Aminopropyl Dimethicone, Cetrimonium Chloride, Trideceth-10, Silicone Quaternium-22, Laureth-23, Laureth-4, Keratin Amino Acids, Trimethylsiloxyamodimethicone, C11-15 Pareth-7, C12-16 Pareth-9, Trideceth-12, Citric Acid, Sodium Chloride, Disodium EDTA, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Fragrance (Parfum)Thoughts: I really like the Texture Treatment and find myself reaching for it as often as I do some of my HG products. I don't have any complaints about its performance. It's a thick conditioner that goes on smoothly. I consider this a mild protein treatment. It contains a good balance of strengthening and softening proteins so I don't have to worry about my hair being brittle if I leave it on for too long. I've used this overnight with no issues. I prefer using the Treatment on wet hair; that way I am able to use less and fully distribute the product. It absorbs easily. When I go to rinse the Treatment, there is barely any visible. My hair feels amazing, every single time.
I've noticed this works especially well with heat. Even in the directions, it says rinse your shampoo with warm water and then apply the Texture Treatment and rinse finishing with cool water. Warm water opens the cuticles and cold water seals/closes them. I'll typically rinse my hair with warm-to-hot water before applying. Once the Treatment is on, I put on a shower cap, scarf, and a wool beanie to trap the heat. After a few hours I rinse with cool water.
This product does contain cones, but I haven't had any issues with buildup or it reacting with other products.
So far my only issue with this product is the fragrance. I can't think of anything to compare it to, but it is strong and very masculine. It does linger after rinsing, but if I apply additional product, which I always do, then I don't notice it.
The ApHogee Curlific! line is available online and at local beauty supply stores. All products are under $10 or £5. ApHogee Curlific! Texture Treatment is only currently only available in an 8oz size.
