First Impressions: Beautiful Textures Curl Definer Styling Custard

I've been trying out different gels lately with hopes of replacing my favorite gel, which has now been replaced with a new formulation (read all about it here). Beautiful Textures was the first.

The first time I applied on dripping wet hair with a little Tresemme Naturals underneath. I diffused then did a pineapple overnight for additional stretch. Right after diffusing, the crunch was intense. When I shook my head I could hear my hair. It was so noisy. Before I pineappled, I used a cream to soften it up and a bit of oil to seal. In the morning I used some hair milk and oil. There was a lot of flaking and I washed my hair after about 3 days.
The second time, taking my sister's advice, I used a curl activator gel in place of a leave-in and followed that with the Custard. As I was smoothing the product through each section, I made sure to remove any excess product. This time there was no flaking, but on the second day, my hair was frizzy and had shrunken a lot. I had to wash it that night to minimize the tangles.
I get good definition using the Custard, but I can only get 2- or 3-day hair with this. For me, it's not always feasible to wash that frequently.
Beautiful Textures Curl Definer Styling Custard is available in 15oz size for about £4 in the UK and $7 in the USA. I've seen it in The Bahamas but don't recall the prices.
I will keep playing with it and update with a full review.
