Thoughts: Mango Dip can be used as a rinse-out conditioner, leave-in conditioner, or moisturizer. I've used it all three ways, and I prefer it as a moisturizer. Its consistency favors that of traditional conditioners. If you put some on your dry hands and rub them together, it will turn white and foamy. Because of this, I thought Mango Dip would work best for me as a rinse-out or leave-in. I don't typically use 8oz products as rinse-outs because it's not cost-effective for me, but I did give this a try. For one conditioning session, I had to use half the bottle. Mango Dip seems to lose its potency when applied to wet hair so I had to keep applying additional product. It didn't cut it for me as a detangler either. It's an ok leave-in, but if I'm using it under a firm-hold gel, it's not moisturizing enough. Before applying this with any styler combination, I tested them to make sure that they would mix without leaving any residue. It works with most gels, but not the ones that are very thick and tacky.
As a daily moisturizer though, Mango Dip works well if I haven't used a firm hold gel and only need a little bit of moisture to fluff. It's light enough to use everyday. It gives a boost of moisture and softens my hair. It only takes a small amount to refresh my wash and go, and it blends in easily. I either apply this directly to dry hair, or mist my hair lightly and follow with Mango Dip and a sealant. It's too light for use over a hard hold gel. My hair would still feel dry after applying it and the crunch / gel cast only slightly diminished.
I love the fragrance of Mango Dip; it's that dreamsicle fragrance. Very fruity and fresh.
One odd thing I noticed about the product, there are white specks throughout it. I'm not sure what it is. If it wasn't thoroughly blended or if one of the ingredients is now solidifying...I don't know. When I rub my hands together though, the specks go away, and they don't show in my hair.
Soultanicals Mango Dip Detangling Slip is available in 8oz for $13.00, 16oz for $22.00, and 32oz for $36.00. It is currently only available on the Soultanicals site.
I haven't had any issues with shipping times in months, but this one is worth mentioning. My sister ordered this and some other items during the Black Friday sale. We got the tracking number in December around Christmas. That's already 4 weeks. We both individually messaged the owner and received the same response that it shipped in December and was already on its way. There was no tracking information online until January, and the package did not arrive until the first or second week of January. I can understand a slight delay, but 5-6 weeks, that is a long time. Soultanicals products are good. I've liked most of the ones I've tried, but I'm honestly not interested in waiting a month to get products. The owner has stated there will be improvements this year, hopefully Soultanicals will deliver on that promise.
Would I repurchase? No. It's just an ok refresher for me.
Below is how I'd rate the product in the following categories:
Performance: 2/5 (as a rinse-out conditioner); 3/5 (as a leave-in conditioner); 3/5 (as a moisturizer)
