Updated Wash and Go Routine - August 2013
My previous routine has changed quite a bit! Here's a quick rundown of what I do. Photos can be found on the Kinks of Nature Instagram page (Instagram.com/KinksOfNature).
- Shampoo or co-wash
- Deep condition overnight (2-6 sections)
- Finger detangle
- Rinse and apply leave-in, then seal
- Wrap hair in a t-shirt or microfiber towel until no longer dripping wet
- Apply styler (6-8 sections)
- Pin hair down with duck-bill clips
- (Or alternatively) Twirl each section and pin like a pin curl
- Wait for hair to dry
- Remove clips and fluff!
I preserve my wash and go's by moisturizing and sealing every morning and night. I pin my hair every night for extra stretch and less frizz. Sometimes I forget to do so, but if I've used a product with a strong hold, I won't have too much disarray. In the morning, I remove the clips and fluff while lightly moisturizing and sealing. When my top layer gets too frizzy, which is usually towards the end of the week, I section off the top and reapply gel after moisturizing and sealing. I'll pin my hair down until it's dry and go through my regular routine in the morning.
That's all! Nine steps to my entire wash routine. It might be a bit much for some, but it works for me, and that's what matters.
Find what works for you. It might take a while to do so, but the end results are worth it.
